Mutton Chukka Gravy-A weekend special

Hmm i just took a back seat from blogging for a while since summer has arrived.  Guess you are all doing very well and enjoying summer activities. Well if it's weekend special then its a party for the mouth. I could not make elaborate cooking for a while so i planned for this menu and prepared it few weeks ago with mutton chukka gravy, fish fry, pepper chicken, hard boiled eggs, rasam and some rice. This mutton chukka gravy is a versatile gravy liked by all the non veg eaters. Ideal combo to pair with dosa, rice, naan and many more flat breads. Lets go to the recipe.




Ingredients:

Ground mutton/lamb-1/2 kg
Cloves-4 nos
Cinnamon powder-1/4 tsp
Ginger garlic paste-1 tbs
Chopped onions-1 1/2 cups
Chopped tomatoes-1 cup
Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
Chilli powder-1 tbs
Salt-As required
Coriander powder-1 tbs
Peppercorns-8 nos
Shredded coconut-1/2 cup
Water-As required
Oil-2 tbs


Method:

Heat the oil in a pressure cooker, add the ginger garlic paste followed by onions and fry until the onion turns translucent. Now throw in the meat along with cloves and cinnamon. Stir fry for 10 o 15 minutes. Add the salt and water to it and pressure cook it for almost 3 to 4 whistles. Remove it from heat, drain the water from it and set it aside. Transfer the mutton to a sauce pan, add the turmeric powder, chilli powder and coriander powder into it, stir in the remaining water(pour in extra water as of to your needs). In another pan fry some peppercorns in oil and grind it with coconut and tomatoes. Add the ground paste to the gravy. Let it boil covered with a lid for about 10 minutes. Serves best with rice, dosa or roti.
