Motichoor Laddoo-Iam back

Hi all, sorry that i could not be active on blogosphere. Just took a break. I guess that it happens at times, did not do much of blog hopping. Hoping to do it regularly and since it's varalakshmi vratam today(Pooja is performed by married hindu women to seek the blessings of the goddess mahalakshmi, wife of Lord vishnu, who is considered to be the abode of wealth and prosperity) i thought to prepare motichoor laddoos. The goddess is offered delicacies including the sweets and savories. So i chose this laddoo as the offering which was a treat to the taste bud. Have an amazing weekend dearies.


Gram flour – 1 1/2 cup
Sugar – 1 cup
Water – 1 cup
Cardamom powder– 3/4 tsp
Raisins and cashews – 1/2 cup
Ghee – 1 tsp
Oil-As required


Sieve the gram flour and then prepare a batter by mixing it with water. Dissolve  one cup of sugar in 1 cup of water and prepare the sugar syrup to a single string consistency. Now add the cardamom powder and the food color (orange color).  Heat oil in a pan on medium heat, pour the batter over the ladle to form small balls. Don’t let it turn crispy. Drain it from oil and immediately drop them into the sugar syrup. Leave it in the sugar syrup for few minutes and drain it. Repeat the same process for the whole batter. Now heat little ghee in a pan and fry the raisins followed by the cashews , add it to the boondi. Let it cool for few minutes. Shape them into numerous balls of desired size immediately when it is warm, otherwise it is hard to make balls. Decorate them with some pistachios on top. Scrumptious laddoos are ready to dig in .
